Way to go!

So, how about them Bears? :-) I must admit I fell asleep at some point toward the end of the 3rd quarter - it was after they recalled the AZ touchdown that would've put them up to 29 - and when I woke up the Bears had not only scored a touchdown, they were about to score another one. Amazing. They played like crap, at least the offense did, but they're still 6-0, so who am I to complain?

Funny story about a good luck charm the team has in my brother. Tony bought a Dick Butkus jersey this summer (Dick Butkus was our dad's all-time favorite Bear), and has worn it during every Bears game because he thinks it's good luck. Last night I called him around halftime and left a message asking what was going on, what happened to the jersey, and just generally giving him a hard time for a few seconds. He called me after the game - he didn't get home until halftime, and so didn't have the jersey on until then. Go figure. In the first half AZ scores 20 points, and the Bears score 3 - in the second half AZ scores 3 and the Bears score 21. Ha! Dick Butkus is looking down on us!

That's all about that - this weekend was nice, aside from a fiasco of a wedding I sang at on Saturday. The director of the music program at the church I'm singing at got married and planned all of this glorious music. 4 1/2 hours of dealing with people singing really flat and with incrediby poor tone quality in my ears left me a little frazzled (and when the worst offender piped up with "Oh, I know. The tenors are terrible," after hearing me talk about it, I wanted to grab her by the throat and yell that she was the worst one). I moved to the end of the row by wedding time, which did me some good, and it all ended up working out. Funny thing though was that the wedding party processed in so slowly that by the time the bride entered the music had finished - it was a glorious 5-minute long procession piece, and the bridal party wasn't that big. I felt bad for the bride. Oh, well.

We found a great microbrewery for dinner Saturday night, thanks to the Entertainment book, and Sunday went furniture window-shopping before my taking a 2-hour nap. Wow, did I need that! Tonight is our second opera in the package, Iphegenie en Tauride. I have no idea what it's about, but it did get good reviews.

One last thing - on Friday I did say something to my boss about SG's wearing flip flops. I preceded it with "I know this might be petty, but it really bothers me..." Apparently, he'd talked to her before. She was wearing other shoes to and from work, but switching to flip flops in the office. Yesterday she was wearing them, but today she's not. Hooray! Jen J, I think your work environment may be different than ours. I mean, if you work from home a lot of the time, when you do go in to work it's probably different, so no offense to you at all.

That's all for now, except that I hope y'all are having a good day, and welcome Sarge!

She's got the damn flip-flops on again. If she's still wearing them at the end of the week I'm going to say something. Of course, I will be subtle, so she probably won't get it. Rrrrr.

Sorry to hear that the wedding was so obnoxious, I can appreciate your frustration with people singing out of tune!

I continue to be amazed by your stories about this girl!! What is the deal!?! And you're probably right, she probably won't get it if you say something to her!

No worries about me being offended. I just saw one of the vice-presidents of my company come in in shorts and sandles (not flip-flops).

She should be dressing appropiate to the office though!

I gotta say, I wear flip flops in the spring at work. I stand all day and I want something on my feet that are comfortable to me....but as a teacher, I deal with kids, not adults, so they don't even notice! Strangely enough, the teacher dress code in my building is techinically the same as the kids...I could wear jeans and a t-shirt every day if i wanted to....

Flip flops are not office apperal. They are not even considered casual office wear, they are beach wear. In my office, it would not be tolerated of an adult that met with visitors coming in the door. The teens that sit behind the reception desk on evenings and weekends might be allowed to wear them in the summer, but not now!

I'm SOOOOOO proud of you for using your entertainment book!

We use our entertainment book every time we go out for dinner. That's been the stipulation lately - whenever we go out, we have to use a coupon. We don't eat out terribly often - 1 or 2 times a month - but we love the thing!

I can't believe that even after the boss talked to her she would still wear the flops! UGH!

I realize that flip-flops are not "business attire" but seriously, you need to find something more worth your time to be stressing out about than what this girl wears to work, cause frankly it isn't any of your business.
