Sorry for no update for awhile, guys. This weekend was busy and yesterday wasn’t the greatest at work – pretty stressful from the moment I got there. Now it’s just after noon here and I’ve hit a little slump – perfect time for a blog break!
The wedding was fun, and beautiful. Friday I helped out a little at the hall to put some finishing touches on everything, and then Kristin and I ran some errands for Evi. That evening I was planning on going to the rehearsal, but got called to do a gig – hooray! I still made it back to my mom’s for the dinner, though.
Friday, by the way, was insane weather wise. The tornado sirens went off several times, and on my way to the gig I drove through more than a few lakes. Fortunately the side of the street I was on was better off than the opposite side so my car didn’t drown.
Back to Saturday. I met musicians around 2 at the church, went through vocal pieces with the pianist, and left the others to rehearse. I was really worried – every time I tried to sing through my stuff at home I would get choked up. I didn’t know how I was going to keep myself focused enough to sing during the wedding. It worked out, though – I just had to not think of Mark & Karen. Plenty of tears came later, though.
Karen looked beautiful and Mark was…Mark (it’s still so weird to think that my little bro has a wife). She’s Lutheran, and the Lutheran service has some scripture reading with rather antiquated wording so that was a little uncomfortable for most people in the church, but what can you do? (I know some of you feel differently, but I still feel nautious when I hear the passage that starts “Wives submit to your husbands…”) After the service there was time for a few more pictures before the fire truck Mark rented took him and Karen to the reception – Mark is a firefighter for those of you who don’t know.
The reception was fun, but I have to say, mine was better. *grin* Mark & Karen left around midnight, and I don’t think Trey and I left ours until after 2 – might’ve even been 2:30 or 2:45 as we didn’t get to the hotel until after 3. Anyway, it was fun, food was great, and everyone had a good time. I especially loved grabbing my cute cousins & dancing with them – Nicky’s polkaing is coming along.
One of the most fun parts was the drive home with Trey – I’d agreed to drive so Trey got a little tipsy. The fun part is, he always wants to have discussions and tell stories when he’s like that. It’s really cute. Then, when I decided to pick up some Wendy’s he insisted on pulling money out of his wallet – I had cash all ready, and he didn’t want to eat anything, but he insisted I take the $3 for my snacks.
Getting up to sing in the morning was rough, but the rest of the day was rougher. We had lunch at Oma’s, which is always loud and crazy, but there were over 20 people there this time and I was tired on top of it. At least the pork roast was good.
Ok, enough for now. When pictures are up on the website I’ll let you all know in case anyone wants to look. More later this week…

i want a pic of you looking beautiful!
I think the coolest thing about your wedding was the breakfast we got after midnight. Heck yeah! I've never had anything like that at a wedding before. You definitly had a great reception.
Ok so I totally agree about the "Wives submit to your husband" thing ... not cool with me at all. We got married in a Lutheran church as well, but got to choose the scripture and as soon as I saw that as one of the choices I wanted to put big red X's through it! (Needless to say we choose a much nicer one!)
Glad you had a great time at the wedding and reception. I know you disagree, but I feel I have to speak up. The "Wives, submit to your husbands..." is meant to respect your husbands. You can't take it out of context, because it goes along with the line further down that says "Husbands, honor your wives...". God meant for us to have a reciprocal, loving marriage, not one of control or dominance. So there's my two cents' worth.

Lisa - I loved the breakfast, too. Too bad Mark & Karen didn't want to do that...then I wouldn't have had to go to Wendy's!
Holly - I know that's how the text should be taken, but it still makes me ill to hear it.
I have to back H up on the "Wives submit to your husbands" verse. You gotta take the whole of scripture as God inspired, or you might as well throw it all out. Marriage works out quite nicely when you both do it God's way, too, even though it's politically incorrect. About the wedding...I wasn't able to get the pic website to load, probably cause I'm too late, but I'm sure they are awesome. I'm so jealous that Armand got to go to you guys' wedding without me. I would feel like I knew what y'all were talking about a little better, but he did tell me all about it, and even got close to talking me into making ours just like it...but we were already too late in the staging plans.
