Train stories

Yes, we did have a bridal shower for Mark & Karen this past Sunday that I want to tell you about, but I have a couple of train stories that I'd rather tell first (#2 is better):

First, this morning there must have been a new driver because he kept stopping too far up on the platforms. In Palatine there's usually a good 15-20 feet from where the platform ends to where the doors on the first car stop, but today the doors lined up with the end of the platform. At Clybourn, the last stop before downtown, the driver actually missed the platform and the people trying to get off had to jump about 1 1/2 feet over the gap. One woman on the train was all in a huff because it was "a violation of railroad policy" and "there should've been a conductor there" but all of us just wanted to smack her. Everyone else just laughed about it, and kept asking the conductor if they got to ride free from Clybourn because they had to carry people over the gorge.

Second, yesterday evening a passenger was denied boarding because he attempted to cross the tracks by crawling under the train. Yup. The train stopped, he was on the wrong side of it, and he crawled under the train. I was talking to the conductor afterwards and found out that apparently this happens a lot at a stop further up the line where the tracks are higher. Still, what are these people thinking?!

Your kidding. Crawling under the tracks? What are these people smoking? When I was in Chicago I remember reading signs saying do not cross tracks, and thought who is stupid enough to try that. Never would have thought people would crawl under. WOW.

Hmmm... maybe I shouldn't visit Chicago someday... sounds like there are a bunch of brainless people there (excluding you and Trey of course). :-P

It just proves that the world is full of dumbasses, no matter where you go. I mean, seriously, crawling under a train, they deserve to get squished. HA!

I can't say I'd feel sorry for the dude if he got crushed. Is that wrong of me?

People never cease to amaze me. You know if it ran over him and didn't kill him, he would probably sue them.

Not at all Trey. You should shake your head and try not to laugh though. And Holly you are right, that is lawsuit city in our wonderful litigating society.
