My list (because this way I can work on this all day and write about the random stuff I’ve been wanting to since last week):
- Simple pleasures at the office: yesterday I sat down with the accountant for a while to sort out some issues in our billing system for some projects. I found out that the rolly chair by his desk is awesome, and it’s an extra. I swapped it out for mine, and now every time I sit down….ahhhhh.
- I’d forgotten to tell Momaw and Jeanne to call me if they wanted to have lunch today so I got a wonderful surprise when they did call! I felt bad because I had to cut them short and just do coffee, but what a fun break in my day (there’s nothing like a little Texas twang to make you smile).
- So, life has been good to me this summer, but has gone a little overboard. Usually I freeze in the super, high powered air conditioning to the point at which I’m almost wearing winter clothes. This year - my building being an old one usually doesn’t get that cold, and front area where I sit doesn’t actually get the air conditioning, so I’m literally wearing tank tops to work every day and still roasting. I sit in the area with all of the big bosses, and apologize every day for looking so casual – luckily they just laugh. I guess we’re all in the same boat.
- Along the lines of the AC problem: Sunday I felt like we had an awful dress rehearsal, which I’m attributing to a number of things (I wasn’t as focused as I needed to be, we didn’t have a string section in the orchestra, they were moving tables and banging around in the parish center for a few hours so what little orchestra there was couldn’t be heard very well). On top of all of them was the fact that the AC went out. Ha! Here we are in the full deal – hair, make-up, hats, heavy dresses for the ladies, etc. – and it’s 95 degrees outside with no AC. Trey said a few people fainted. I was thanking God I scarfed down some lunch and was being anal about downing water. Anyway, Tuesday night was much better for me, and now I’m feeling like our first performance will actually go well.
- Completely different: I had a nice laugh the other morning when I stopped a Walgreen’s on my way in to work to pick up some stuff. As I was leaving the store I got to see two employees trying to stop and then chasing some guy for a few blocks. Apparently he’d tried to gank some things – he’d dropped a plastic bag full of those huge, 1 pound Hershey bars. Way to be inconspicuous.
- Today is Trey’s birthday! Happy birthday Trey!
Ok, so I wrote that yesterday (Trey's birthday is the 19th) – and never got a chance to send it…I’m going to post this now, and start another list for the next time I get a chance to post…

You had me confused there at the last bullet. I went back to the top looked at the post date and thought about it for a minute and said to myself, I thought the 19th was his birthday. Then...I read the last paragraph...
Kilroy was here!
PS: Break a leg tonight!
Happy B-day Trey!!!
So you watched a foiled walgreens robbery...cool!!
Break a leg tongiht!!!
Great list of things. Hooray for finding the "ahhhh" chair. :-D That is always an awesome thing to have in the office.
Kick Ass! Trey and I have the same birthday!
Amen for "ahhhh" chairs! I stole mine from my boss!
Sorry to hear that you had a crappy dress rehearsal, but that should mean you'll have a fabulous performance!
Lisa, why did I think your birthday was on the 10th? I thought I'd missed it already. Sorry I've been a moron about that stuff lately!
glad life has a bunch of high points! sorry to miss your show (blasted Alaska!) but i'll be thinking of you!
knock 'em dead!
Viki, I would like to come to one fo the performances this weekend with my mom and Grandma.
We are thinking of Sunday afternoon. Where is St. James?? Mom has to check with Grandma about when they can leave to go home. I will get back to you when I hear from them. Sorry this is so difficult....
Jen, St. James: 820 N. Arlington Heights Rd. In Arlington Heights (www.stjamesah.org).
At this point, it would be best to buy tickets at the door. Ticket hotline to check availability is 847-253-6305x178.
Show's going really well - we had a really nice article in the Sunday Daily Herald!
