It's not looking good...

So, today is supposed to be the first time I get paid, and our accountant has assured me that everything’s a go with direct deposit…but I’ve been checking my bank account obsessively all day and nothing’s shown up yet. I e-mailed our accountant, who is not at work today, and he replied that I’ll see it hit by the end of the day - does “end of the day” mean 5pm, 9pm, midnight? This is making me nervous, and although I am a nice person I would continue to bug him if I thought there was anything he could do about it at this point. It’s not like I won’t be able to make it through the weekend without a paycheck or anything, but that’s not the point. Ok, enough of my complaining.

This weekend will probably not be relaxing as it needs to be, but it will be fun. Tonight is the Kindergruppe spaghetti dinner and Sunday is the first dance practice we’ll get to for the adult group, so between the two I should be able to see a bunch more German club folks. Tomorrow I’ll be at work, but with any luck the building will stay pretty busy because of a “Great Chicago Places and Spaces” event that’s going on – our building is listed as a great indoor space, and I’m one of the two people who’s volunteered to be here while the building is open (I hope I can find the stuff we’ve got about the history of the building). It should be fun, and the way the day falls into the paycheck cycle, it’ll make up for my not working on Memorial Day.

There’s another thing – this working hourly but having traditional holidays off (like Memorial Day) is going to make my paychecks a little wacky. I think that for the paycheck cycles I do work the full 10 days I’ll have to figure out the 10th day and make that a special rainy day fund, or extra car payment $$ or something. Hmm… Ok, I’ll shut up now.
