So, yesterday I go to the grocery store because I need some tomatoes to go with the leftover mozzarella cheese from the night before (you have to eat that stuff within a day of being produced or it doesn't taste as good). What do I see at the store but some guy taking pictures of the cereal/pre-made cornetti aisle. This guy has no uniform or identifying marks on him and doesn't even have camera equipment, just a small digital. There is, however, someone employed by the store with him making sure that it looks like the shelves are stocked.
This falls in the category of things I don't understand about this country. What was this guy doing? Who was paying him? Around here there are always these random people working or doing what look like official jobs, like filling in potholes and such, but they're almost always only wearing street clothes. You have to wonder: is that guy filling in the potholes actually working for the city, or is he just filling in the potholes because he's driven over them one too many times and can't stand it anymore? If he's not working for the city, how did he get all of the equipment and supplies? If he is working for the city, why doesn't he at least have a t-shirt or jacket on that says "La citta di Varcaturo" on? One of the mysteries of southern Italy...

Hmmm... very strange... maybe they were taking pics for their website? :-D
I dare you to go in and take your own pictures Viki. If they ask, tell them they're for your blog. See if they even know what you mean.
You may be surprised Lisa, they may ask her for the address ;). Italy has the highest density of fiber optics to the home of any country in the world.
Yeah, Italy might have the highest density of fiber optics to the home, but I don't think that holds true for the south. I live 20 minutes outside of downtown and have dial-up internet...DSL isn't even available in my area!
